The young Gator basketball seems to be figuring things out as they have won three in a row, topping Vermont Friday and Jacksonville last night.  Mareesse Speights has been a presence in the paint finally to some extent.   Jai Lucas and Nick Calathes have played well at times too.  Coach Donovan is reportedly unhappy with inconsistency and overconfidence, however.

On a down note, Gator Linebacker Jermaine Cunningham was arrested along with a former Gator football player and a nationally known track and field athlete on battery charges, after a dispute with an employee in a local restaurant.   I really am not sure what to make of the number of off-the-field incidents during Meyer’s tenure.   The Gators have not typically been known as a program that consistently has these issues.  Another factor is the continued exodus of some current players to other programs.   It was announced last week that running back Bo Williams and backup QB Brian Waggener intend to transfer, presumably for the opportunity for more playing time elsewhere.    I get the impression Meyer is not a warm fuzzy kind of guy on the one hand, and I know you can’t watch the kids 24/7, but I want to stop hearing about this kind of stuff, as in I wish it would stop.
